Ecodesign Centre present paper at leading design education conference

Simon O’Rafferty presented a research paper written by the EDC team at the 11th International Conference on Engineering and Product Design Education in Brighton on the 10th of September. This conference brought together representatives from education and industry to explore new approaches and directions in design education. The theme of the conference was ‘Creating a Better World' and therefore reflected the importance of design in addressing such issues as sustainability, changing demographics and emerging markets.

The paper explored the context of capacity building for sustainable development in design practice and education. It built upon a previous paper by EDC which addressed the broad challenges to capacity building in design education. The paper proposed a conceptual framework of key competencies for ecodesign education.
